Raman Irman Receives the 2026 Global Recognition Award for Artistic Accomplishment

Raman Irman has been recognized with a 2026 Global Recognition Award for Artistic Accomplishment, reflecting the international reach of his filmmaking and his continued support for independent creators.

His career spans filmmaking, screenwriting, acting, editing, and writing, while his initiatives provide practical opportunities for filmmakers, screenwriters, and other creative professionals to develop their work. Irman received this recognition for combining original film work with educational, professional, and creative-rights initiatives that help independent artists gain access to knowledge, visibility, and professional connections.

International Artistic Achievement

Raman Irman received international attention through Visualization, his 2022 live-action short film, which combines psychological drama, mystery, and science fiction within a concise narrative.

He held several key production roles, including writer, director, actor, editor, and producer. This direct involvement gave the film a unified creative direction while demonstrating his ability to manage multiple elements of independent production.

Visualization qualified for consideration at the 96th Academy Awards and received more than 80 awards and numerous nominations, providing documented recognition from festival audiences and industry professionals.

Irman's artistic work extends beyond a single film. He has maintained a diverse practice across screenwriting, performance, editing, and literary work, using cinema to communicate across cultural and national boundaries. His projects have reached audiences and creative communities internationally, reflecting an approach to independent filmmaking that values global collaboration and professional exchange beyond established commercial production channels.

Leadership Through Creative Institutions

Irman has applied his experience as a filmmaker to the development of programs and organizations that support the broader independent film community.

He founded the Kurdistan International Independent Film Festival, providing independent filmmakers with a platform to present their work and fostering dialogue among artists who may have limited access to major commercial outlets. The festival connects recognition with practical opportunity by creating spaces where films can be viewed, assessed, discussed, and introduced to new audiences and collaborators.

His work also includes the World House of Cinema Artists (WHCA), M&R Pictures, and the M&R Pictures Film School, which bring together production, distribution, education, and professional networking through interconnected activities.

Irman has also established international award initiatives supporting filmmakers and screenwriters, while his 2025 books, First-time Filmmaker and Professional Filmmaker, provide educational resources informed by his professional experience.

According to the Global Recognition Awards, candidates were assessed across areas including leadership, innovation, service, sustainability, social responsibility, and artistic accomplishment. Shortlisted candidates were compared using the Rasch measurement model, creating a consistent scale for evaluating achievement across categories and fields.

Supporting Creative Rights and Independent Artists

Irman also created the World Screenplay Bank (WSB), an independent international initiative addressing the need for the registration, verification, and protection of screenwriters' creative rights.

The initiative provides writers with a clearer process for documenting original work and maintaining professional records of their creative material within an international framework.

His contribution therefore extends beyond completed films. Through his creative, educational, and institutional work, Irman supports conditions in which other artists can develop projects, build professional connections, document their work, and maintain greater control over their creative output.

A Recognition of Artistic Accomplishment

Alex Sterling, a spokesperson for the Global Recognition Awards, stated:

“Raman Irman has earned a 2026 Global Recognition Award because his artistic work, international perspective, and continuing effort to create practical opportunities for other artists distinguish his record.”

Raman Irman has built a career that approaches filmmaking not only as an art form, but also as a professional responsibility. His work has earned international recognition while providing resources, platforms, and guidance for independent creators.

His record of original filmmaking, cultural exchange, educational work, and institution-building supports the decision to recognize Raman Irman with a 2026 Global Recognition Award for Artistic Accomplishment.
